Monday Biology Practical Class

It’s Monday again. Biology Practical Class for me. I’ve taken some picture of my failed experiment, darn, I’m sucks at this. Haha.

My personal Microscope

Slides that I've prepared

Onion Epidermis Cells, that's what I got when I look into the Microscope

This experiment is to test the degree of plasmolysis of the onion cells when you soak them in different concentration of sucrose solution, but sadly for me, I don’t know what happen, my onion cells all look exactly the same in every concentration, so I’ve got no results. What a bad day for me.

Same Cells under X40 magnification

The two previous picture was soaked in distilled water, and this, soaked in 0.5mol per dm cube concentration, is suppose to have slight plasmolysis, but, LOL, no difference. So no results for me, even my very pretty Biology Teacher can’t find anything to help me, she said, I didn’t give enough time for it to be soaked in the solution.

Darn, I don't see any plasmolysis

WTH, do u guys see any difference?

And so I become very Emo. Why I so useless neh? I’ve never done anything good in Biology Practical Class since, I observed my Cheek Cells. It’s like a curse, I never got anything right. And my AS is going to finish soon, if i go to exams like this, I’m totally gone.

Out of bad mood, I cut all the onion into small pieces

Hee, a smart guy who always did well in Practical, may be because he is precise? Compare the things he prepared and mine...

The best I could get, the degree of plasmolysis is so Not obvious

Then it’s time for culinary art. Onion + Iodine + Methyl Orange + Sunflower Oil + Stick + Alcohol + Fire = Great Onion Dish

Nice?

Midnight Mcdonald

It was 1.36am Friday. One of my friend, Edmund had been struck by some problem and he couldn’t sleep. So he hopped on my car and we went down to Mcdonald Greenlane to have an ice-cream as he couldn’t go to sleep, troubled by the problem.

1.36am in the morning, Friday.

The night was very silent. The roads were clear and the moon was bright. However, nothing was clear in our mind. One or two ice-cream could help, readers, just call me if you have any problems, I’ll bring you to McD and solve your problem for you. LOL.

The Roads were clear

Midnight McDonald

McD workers working late night

And so, I ordered McValue Lunch, since it’s 12-3, so I got a very cheap price… Nah I was just kidding, the guy didn’t let me buy for that price. Intead he introduced me the new products, Extra Big and Double Burger, or something like that. Lol, I was here for Ice-cream only, not lunch. Thanks.

The guy, he very stim

I asked him for a cup of plain water, as after ice-cream normally you’ll feel thirsty. He said water need money, I said anything free of charge, he said, “well ya, I can give you a cup.” Gosh, what am I to do with an empty cup if you’re not going to give me water??

Sundae Cone and Mcflurry

Troubled Edmund, as you can see from his look, his hair, his expression & his face

The egg looks so attractive, may be next time we'll sit till 4 and go straight for the breakfast

And this is Arron’s Formula, the formula to “Solving Emotional Problem”, how to be happy when you’re down/how to cheer up yourself after you’re being dumped by the one you love, or you are feeling down because your girlfriend is leaving you or so.

Myvi’s Car Key + Ice-cream + A good friend as a companion + Driving Licence/A driver = Problem Solved

Trust me, it works, on myself. Haha

And then this is the next morning. Chemistry Lab Session. I was so tired. LOL. I poured Aqueous Ammonia and Sodium Hydroxide on my own hand due to carelessness. Pity me.

The girl there, she's Li Chen. My class' top girl.

I nearly burn down the lab because I was too sleepy. The bunsen burner did it, not me. I swear!

Lunch Time in Harvest In Cafe

Harvest In Menu

The Menu

Actually we have already went there yesterday. But since it was lunch time, the place was so crowded and we decided not to eat there for the day. Today we went back again on 2 something and after we made reservation to make sure that this lunch date is a pleasant and sumptious ones.

Yesterday darn crowded during lunch time

They don't want to wait

So we went back again today. Why do we love Harvest In cafe so much, well, the price is rather cheap for a restaurant like this, the Chef’s Special Chicken Chop is only RM7.90 and no extra tax or service charge. It’s RM7.90 and you get your hands on a delicious chicken chop. Besides that, there are a lot of choices besides western food, there are pasta, spaghetti, rice, noodles, steak and many more. I’ve went there twice, first time with Nicholas, Chien Chern, Tee Jin, Yan Duan, Alvin, Chin Lai and Chen Yuan. I tried the Koh Samui Chicken and, well yea, I do feel like swimming in Koh Samui. Haha.

Lol, post-lunch hour, no one's here

The design

This is Xiu Xin, my dear classmate. He’s very smart, he wants to be a doctor, but he said he wanna go Matriculation because he has got no money. So I guess this will be the last time I’ll have lunch with him at Harvest In. And I just realise that, with his silhouette against the sunlight behind him, he looks so saint and brilliant.

Xiu Xin, we call him Dr. Teng

Ready to eat?

Natasha, with her Economics Book and Yan Min

Min Sheng, no don't worry that's not book, it's just a menu, and evvie

Penang’s Food Attractions

Hi, readers. It has been quite long since yiphing.net was last updated. The last post about JPA interview was posted by the real author and blog owner itself, Yiphing. But now, she’s back to National Service. So let’s wish her good luck. It’s Arron in custody of this blog again. I haven’t  come on for at least 2 weeks already because I was quite busy. Home works, Test, Assignment, Camp and so on. Last Sunday and Monday I went to Petronas Eduquest Camp for a 2 days 1 night camp including interview, it was a very nice experience, although I don’t like the accommodation and other things. Even for one day I feel like killing myself, so, I salute those who can go NS for 3 months. LOL.

So, where have I went to…? I went to search for food in Penang. This one > I think a lot of people know about it already, but I’d still want to write about it because it really is economical and delicious =)

Char Bihun

Lebuh Tye Sin Char Bihun

It’s not too dry, the mee is very soft, it tastes just nice and it’s very cheap, only RM1.20 each.

The Stall

The Stall

The place where they wash their plates

The guy is giving massage to the mee before frying them because it would make them soft

And now, besides Lebuh Tye Sin, I have another good place to go. Penang Union High School’s Canteen. On one beautiful day, a few classmates and I went there under Min Sheng’s suggestion. They said the fried mee there is quite delicious. Well, actually outsiders are not allowed to go in Union High School’s compound, not to say the canteen. But for the sake of my readers, I’ve sneaked in through various means and so I got the chance to capture, how the mee look like. I think after this, I’d get blacklisted and can never go in again. LOL

Hey Raykee, Nick and CC, I think next time delicious maggi mee I know where to eat le...

UHS Fried Yellow Mee

Therefore, since outsiders are strictly not allowed to go in and have lunch in the canteen for some delicious treat, then you guys will have to wait for Canteen Day, that the school will be open to outsiders to try the food in their canteen. Too bad it only happens once in a year. So, be patience =)

Next we’re moving on to somewhere at Lebuh Pantai, or should I say, Jetty there. One of Penang’s well-known attraction, the Clan Bridge along Jetty, registered with UNESCO. There, I think a lot of things to eat, I’ve tried one, and it’s delicious.

I think people know this street, and the board is easy to find, Pengkalan Weld

The Stall, look at the fire burning

I eat at somewhere exactly opposite the Street Sign, it should be easy to find.

Coconut Jelly, anyone?

And this, extremely delicious, they say its kinda fried shrimp paste, I don't exactly know what it is

4.5/5 for it

Yiphing, Tom Yam Mee!

And I think when Yiphing’s back, I’ll bring her to try Tom Yam Mee, since its her favourite. Well but this is not really that delicious, just, acceptable. I give 3.8/5 for it. It smells nice but it’s not spicy enough. And the smell and scent of tom yam is not too strong. However, the fish slices given are so big. It’s very tasty, the fish.

pToday was the last day for Sushi King’s promotion, RM2 bonanza or something like that. CC went there with Tee Jin on Tuesday without calling me. So I decided to go and try with Sherreen. We went to e-gate. It was quite crowded and I que up for around 20 minutes to be seated.

Bonanza, Have you all tried before? Only RM2 for every plate on the belt

Although it’s RM2 for every plate, but I think it’s still quite expensive. And they don’t put much salmon, Unagi and tempura because it’s expensive. Normally they put a lot of cheap Tuna Riceballand other vegetable riceball.

Cheap Tuna I was talking about, LOL

My mixture of concentrated wasabi with soya sauce irritates a lot

So many people

And finally, the last thing I want to introduce is Shilin Snack. This stall was introduced to me by Nicholas Chan back in 2 years ago. That time when we were still young, we don’t have a lot to spend. So I can still remember, after Redbox, each of us has only like RM8 or Rm10 and we were so hungry. So, Nicholas led us to Shilin in Gurney. The XXL Crispy Chicken costs RM5.90 and the size is quite  big. It’s quite worth it. Now it’s RM6 and the chicken become smaller, due to economic pressure gua. LOL.

My JPA Interview Experience

yiphing is here again. I think many of you have read the previous post about JPA scholarship interview that written by arron before. i’m now gonna write about my JPA interview experience at here! *nervous. kan cheong! lols.

oh well. Actually my interview time was on 8am morning. But yesterday night, CC suddenly told me that our time had changed. So, i faster rushed to check out my time. Oh gosh! changed to 10am. Batus? nah, quite scary, don’t know which time suppose to go.

Course applied: Social Science

Venue: Bahagian Teknologi Pendidikan Negeri Pulau Pinang, Pokok Sena, Kepala Batas.

Panel: 3

Group: My group was a lil bit weird, there were 4 students in a group, 3 girls and 1 boy. 3 girls are chinese and the only boy is malay. Weird is it? 1 social science, that’s me, 2 accountancy and 1 engineering.

Time taken: around 40-45 mins

#1 Self introduction:

Introduced ourself in BM! oh my god, my BM sucks to the max. Can’t even speak proper BM. I had mixed a lot of English in the introduction, i know it’s a big big big mistake to do so, but what to do, i really don’t know how to speak proper BM. And i was super panic cause im the first one! Okay, back to the point, we can talk whatever we wants, talk about our family background, talk about co-cu activities, why choose this course? which country u want to go? and why?

#2 Discussion:

In english, luckily! so the question was: patriotism levels among youth in the country have declined, state your point of view. We were given 2 mins to jot down our own points.

#3

The panels asked, who wants to change their course? none of us say yes. So, move to another question, so the panel asked us, there are 1500 places for this year, now we are given an opportunity to promote ourself and talk about why we deserve the scholarship? We can choose to answer this question either in BM or English. yeah, for me of course English. lols. 3 Chinese were using English to answer this question just one, the only boy answered it by using BM.

That’s all, the interview finally ended. All 3 panels are nice and polite. They won’t shoot us and never shoot us. FYI, one panel is pengawai JPA, one is doctor and another one is someone who works for government as an architecture for 8 years. lols.

p/s: I know my english is not good at all, sucks. So, this whole long long article sure have lots of mistakes. I’m so sorry. All the best to all who went to the interview! and good luck!

i wore baju kurung to the interview. phing in pink! =)

wore specs to show that i’m a serious student, deserve to get the scholarship. lols.

i don’t have any leather shoes, so i wore my ballerina flats to the interview. Cute is it? =)

Drove all the way from Penang to Kepala Batas. Thanks to my awesome dad that taught me how to go there with phone call. wahhh.

Best thing to do when stuck into traffic jam- CAMWHOREEEE!

met up with dad after reached there. We went to breakfast before the interview. Had roti canai.

yeah? i’m the lucky no.1. =(
