Penang’s Food Attractions

Hi, readers. It has been quite long since yiphing.net was last updated. The last post about JPA interview was posted by the real author and blog owner itself, Yiphing. But now, she’s back to National Service. So let’s wish her good luck. It’s Arron in custody of this blog again. I haven’t  come on for at least 2 weeks already because I was quite busy. Home works, Test, Assignment, Camp and so on. Last Sunday and Monday I went to Petronas Eduquest Camp for a 2 days 1 night camp including interview, it was a very nice experience, although I don’t like the accommodation and other things. Even for one day I feel like killing myself, so, I salute those who can go NS for 3 months. LOL.

So, where have I went to…? I went to search for food in Penang. This one > I think a lot of people know about it already, but I’d still want to write about it because it really is economical and delicious =)

Char Bihun

Lebuh Tye Sin Char Bihun

It’s not too dry, the mee is very soft, it tastes just nice and it’s very cheap, only RM1.20 each.

The Stall

The Stall

The place where they wash their plates

The guy is giving massage to the mee before frying them because it would make them soft

And now, besides Lebuh Tye Sin, I have another good place to go. Penang Union High School’s Canteen. On one beautiful day, a few classmates and I went there under Min Sheng’s suggestion. They said the fried mee there is quite delicious. Well, actually outsiders are not allowed to go in Union High School’s compound, not to say the canteen. But for the sake of my readers, I’ve sneaked in through various means and so I got the chance to capture, how the mee look like. I think after this, I’d get blacklisted and can never go in again. LOL

Hey Raykee, Nick and CC, I think next time delicious maggi mee I know where to eat le...

UHS Fried Yellow Mee

Therefore, since outsiders are strictly not allowed to go in and have lunch in the canteen for some delicious treat, then you guys will have to wait for Canteen Day, that the school will be open to outsiders to try the food in their canteen. Too bad it only happens once in a year. So, be patience =)

Next we’re moving on to somewhere at Lebuh Pantai, or should I say, Jetty there. One of Penang’s well-known attraction, the Clan Bridge along Jetty, registered with UNESCO. There, I think a lot of things to eat, I’ve tried one, and it’s delicious.

I think people know this street, and the board is easy to find, Pengkalan Weld

The Stall, look at the fire burning

I eat at somewhere exactly opposite the Street Sign, it should be easy to find.

Coconut Jelly, anyone?

And this, extremely delicious, they say its kinda fried shrimp paste, I don't exactly know what it is

4.5/5 for it

Yiphing, Tom Yam Mee!

And I think when Yiphing’s back, I’ll bring her to try Tom Yam Mee, since its her favourite. Well but this is not really that delicious, just, acceptable. I give 3.8/5 for it. It smells nice but it’s not spicy enough. And the smell and scent of tom yam is not too strong. However, the fish slices given are so big. It’s very tasty, the fish.

pToday was the last day for Sushi King’s promotion, RM2 bonanza or something like that. CC went there with Tee Jin on Tuesday without calling me. So I decided to go and try with Sherreen. We went to e-gate. It was quite crowded and I que up for around 20 minutes to be seated.

Bonanza, Have you all tried before? Only RM2 for every plate on the belt

Although it’s RM2 for every plate, but I think it’s still quite expensive. And they don’t put much salmon, Unagi and tempura because it’s expensive. Normally they put a lot of cheap Tuna Riceballand other vegetable riceball.

Cheap Tuna I was talking about, LOL

My mixture of concentrated wasabi with soya sauce irritates a lot

So many people

And finally, the last thing I want to introduce is Shilin Snack. This stall was introduced to me by Nicholas Chan back in 2 years ago. That time when we were still young, we don’t have a lot to spend. So I can still remember, after Redbox, each of us has only like RM8 or Rm10 and we were so hungry. So, Nicholas led us to Shilin in Gurney. The XXL Crispy Chicken costs RM5.90 and the size is quite  big. It’s quite worth it. Now it’s RM6 and the chicken become smaller, due to economic pressure gua. LOL.
